Privacy & Data Policy

The Untangled Way is a small, one-person business operated by The Untangled Way LLC, based in Wyoming, and I keep what I collect to a minimum. This page explains what information I collect, why, where it’s kept, how long I keep it, and what choices you have. It covers theuntangledway.com, the free Sampler Reading, paid readings, and products, and it works alongside the Terms of Service.
What I Collect
When you request a Sampler Reading or book a paid reading
- Name and email address
- Birth date, birth time, and birth city/state/country — required to calculate your astrology chart and/or Human Design bodygraph
- Any focus question or life area you choose to share (paid readings)
- Your answers to the consent questions on the form, and whether you’d like follow-up emails
When you pay
- Stripe collects your payment details directly. I see your name, email, and the amount paid, but I never see or store card numbers.
When you visit the website
- The website doesn’t use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools. Like any website, its host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and to keep the site running.
When you email me
- Your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message
Why I Collect It
Birth data is the only information a chart or bodygraph calculation actually needs, and I don’t ask for anything beyond what’s needed to prepare and deliver your reading. Your name and email are used to send your report, confirm your booking, answer your follow-up question, and, only if you’ve said yes, send occasional emails from The Untangled Way.
A note on the focus question: some people choose to share personal details there, such as health, grief, or relationships. Please share only what you’re comfortable with. Anything you write is handled with the same care, and deleted on the same schedule, as the rest of your intake.
Where It’s Kept
Intake responses are stored in Google Forms/Sheets. Working files for your reading (your chart, bodygraph, report, and any audio) are kept on my password-protected computer and a secured backup drive. Your completed report is emailed to you directly as a PDF, so a copy also sits in my business email account. There is no separate client database or CRM.
I don’t currently enter client information into AI tools when preparing readings. If that ever changes, I’ll update this policy first.
Tools That Touch Your Data
- Google Forms/Sheets — collects and stores intake responses
- LUNA, Astro.com, or similar software — used only to calculate your chart or bodygraph from the birth data you provide
- Stripe — processes payments and keeps the transaction record
- MailerLite — sends emails about your order and, if you’ve opted in, the email list (see below)
- GoDaddy — hosts the website and business email
Your birth data and personal details are never sold and are never shared with anyone beyond the services listed here, which are used only to deliver what you asked for.
Emails You’ll Receive
About your order. If you book a reading, you’ll get emails directly related to it: a booking confirmation, your delivered report, and a short feedback request a few days later. These are part of the service and go to every client.
The email list. Anything beyond that, such as the follow-up emails after a Sampler Reading or occasional news from The Untangled Way, is sent only if you’ve said yes. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list right away.
How Long It’s Kept
- Paid readings: your intake response and reading files are kept for 12 months after your report is delivered, so you can book a follow-up without re-entering everything. Booking again restarts the 12 months.
- Sampler Readings: kept for 6 months after delivery.
- Email list: your address stays on the list until you unsubscribe.
- Payment records: transaction records in Stripe are kept as long as tax law requires, even if you ask for everything else to be deleted.
- Testimonials you’ve approved are kept until you ask me to remove them.
I review stored information every quarter and delete anything past these windows at that review. You can always ask for deletion sooner.
Your Choices
- Portfolio consent (your choice): whether anonymized excerpts of your reading, with all identifying details removed, may be used for portfolio or marketing purposes. You can choose “Yes,” “No,” or “Ask me first.”
- Testimonial permission is requested separately, after delivery, and is entirely optional.
- Email list: opt in or out at any time.
Your Rights
You can ask at any time to see what information I hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted (apart from payment records I’m required to keep). Just reply to any email from The Untangled Way or use the contact details below, and I’ll respond within 30 days.
Age
As the Terms of Service explain, everything offered here is for adults 18 and older. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and if I find that I have, I’ll delete it.
Keeping It Safe
I use password protection on my devices and accounts, and I rely on established providers (listed above) for payments, forms, and email. No system is perfectly secure, but if your information is ever compromised, I’ll notify you promptly and tell you what happened and what I’m doing about it.
If You’re Outside the United States
The Untangled Way is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed here. I use it to deliver the reading or product you purchased, or, for the email list, because you agreed to it. The rights described above apply to you wherever you live.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, I’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how your existing information is used, I’ll let you know by email.
